Greencroft Economics is a boutique economic consultancy founded in June 2019 to advise public and private sector clients on sustainable and inclusive socioeconomic development in emerging economies.

Its core focus is on the role of access to basic services, infrastructure, and global value chains as drivers of inclusive development, creating opportunities for the private sector and vulnerable communities alike. Its work bridges the gap between economic theory and practical application, providing actionable insights founded on rigorous analytics.

Greencroft staff have experience working in more than 20 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Ed Day, Founder

Ed founded Greencroft Economics to provide leadership to clients while retaining close attention to the analytical content and fine details of projects. Core to this decision was the desire to combine a lean and nimble offering to clients, with an adaptable application of his expertise and network of associate consultants and partner firms.

Based in London, Ed has worked in more than 15 countries, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. He began his career as an ODI Fellow, spending two years in Bujumbura to support development of the Government of Burundi's second poverty reduction strategy paper and associated medium term expenditure frameworks. His work has since taken him across Africa and much of South and South East Asia. Co-developing projects with local institutions, and ensuring that analysis reflects the realities of stakeholders and the context in which they live, is central to Ed's work ethos.

As an economist by training and by trade, with an MSc (Distinction) in Economics from UCL, and over a decade's experience in economic consulting, Ed brings a deep and versatile set of quantitative and modelling tools to projects. At the same time, he recognises the limitations of these tools and aims to bridge the gap between what economic analysis might predict, and the real situations confronted by communities, businesses, and governments.

Before setting up Greencroft, Ed led Vivid Economics' Growth and Development practice, having previously worked at NERA Economic Consulting and the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
